« on: January 07, 2009, 07:10:05 AM »
the is something i would like to add to the list:  smoke grenades.  homemade/mil-spec?  requirements for use/operation?

been a lot of talk about using smoke grenades and i personally would like to use them given proper usage.  would like to know requirments for use if allowed.  no flames/sparks, self contained, ect?

That can be discussed, but there use would probably be more dependant on field rules and state laws. By Maine State law, smoke bombs are considered fireworks and therefore are illegal (Except with permit). I don't think that MAG should be setting any rule that goes against state or federal laws.

The only "smoke bomb" that would be considered would be if there was one that does not use combustion/flame to work. That does not mean only for light purposes, but for the smoke to be created. Something such as powder and a propellant would be acceptable.

When I was doing stage effects for a band, we had a "Pocket Fog Generator" and it was 9v battery powered, held a half cup of 'fog juice' and spit out about a min of fog before you needed to refill it.

Back before Tactical Airsoft collapsed, there was a meeting between myself and Elburn of the BattleRagers, and Joe and Scooter of TA(Subba showed up too I think).  What was agreed upon was that apparently Spartan Assault(it was right after TA and its allies were horribly beaten by SA) could field large numbers of good players consistantly and that something needed to be done to level the playing field.  What was decided was that we would try to develope various land mines, mortars, and grenades.  Now Joe had been running a sort of R&D program out of the TA shop(I actually think it was headed by Pain) for a while developing and building several of these things, but they couldnt build fast enough.  It was decided that the BattleRagers would set up their own R&D program independant of TA's R&D in the hopes that 1) we could think of stuff Joe and Pain didnt, and 2) with 2 such programs we could put together enough stuff to turn the tide of the war against SA.  As you can tell it didnt really amount to anything as shortly after the meeting Joe pussied out and without his leadership TA went under.

Now, the point of my ramblings is that The BattleRagers are thinking of dusting off all of that info and restarting our R&D program, and we figured MAG is going to be discussing grenades, so why not also get land mines and mortars(and other indirect fire artillery) out of the way as well?.  We also have plans for a shoulder mounted RPG launcher so i guess we could talk about that as well.

I think at this point we can discuss some very basic guidelines on other weaponry (i.e. tanks, grenades, mortars, etc). Then each team can take to the R&D portion and see what comes of it. Towards the end of the TA days, Spartan met with Joe and went over his plans for mortars, mines etc and have built and used such devices in the past, but they were not very easy to implement into play. I still have a couple sound mortars kicking around here somewhere as well as a couple of air cannons.

Maybe at some point(doesnt have to be this meeting) we should dust off the Engineer and Demo MOS(the 2 closest to my heart) and get them re-hammered out.

Yeah, I think as part of the "Alternative Weaponry" path that we are going down we will be able to re-create or re-define these roles.

something's come up so i wont be able to 'attend' the meeting.  If the meetings notes could be posted like ASAP(so i could read them as soon as i get home) that would be awesome.  Thank you.

I think we should also begin brainstorming for a large spring/summer event. the last GOOD one was D-Day so we should really look into it.
