ghille suits
« on: May 16, 2008, 12:20:23 AM »
i am looking into the possibility of holding a basic ghille suit making class
if enough people are interested i will hold one.
there is some cost involved.
but for now i am seeing if it is doable.

this class will be the construction of a basic ghille suit.
should include wrap for sniper rifle
all ghille suits will be custom fit to each person

we have two options
i can make the cost of the class cover the materials needed to do the class
i can let each person purchase their own

they typically cost around 80-90 to make the basic bottom layer
rifles take about 20-30 to do.

I voted not interested, but that was dumb to do. I personaly am not interested but I think its a great idea for anyone who wants to be a die hard marksman!

Way to go ghost on working on some very useful skills.

I would be very interested in doing it....but I can't afford to do it! Is there a cheaper way to do it?

after much research and lots of visiting stores, this is the most cost effective way of doing it.
typically it costs 80-150 dollars for the basic ghille suit.
it does not include, custom fitting, rifle wrap, or the satifation of doing it yourself.
to make a fully useable ghille suit you must have the base layer.
after that, you add to it ( fake plants, and elastic straps to tie stuff in.)
once the intermediate layer is done
then you do the advanced ghille suit (finish it off)
adding Local vegitation.

I also voted not interested, but that's just because a ghillie suit is not for me and my style of playing. But like Smoke said, if you're goal is to be a marksman, this is a great thing to do!

thank you all for the support... hopefully the squad leaders will help their squadmates to decide whom wants to fill this role.

the training will start after the rifleman training is done. (first things first)

i am in the works of doing a "class" which will be more of an information sharing meeting.
i will be covering
sniper
~roles in combat
-requirements/pre-requisites
-army field guide to camo
~fieldcraft
-skillcraft
-enployment on the airsoft field
~ghillie suits
-construction
-use
-types
-information (i.e. links)
-distraction
-recon skills
-radio use
-target interdiction

i will be finishing the the overview  then buckle down on everything else.
i will not be charging for this.
( the orginal reason was to cover cost of ghillie material)
seeing as no one attending will be needing material i will cover the cost of handouts!
but small donations of junk food will be accepted.  :-)
still looking for a place to hold this.
my small apartment can't entertain enough people.

i am not sure which team are you on?
or have you joined spartan and just waiting for your first game?
if you joined spartan... own a bolt action rifle... come talk to me.
i have had people one their first day be accepted as marksmen.
