Get an AEG first, master your aeg such as a m4 or ak then move on. Biggest problem I see with new players and sniping is not knowing the feild well enough. Plus aegs can pump out more plastic and with upgredaes are as accurate as a stock sniper

Everyone here will tell you to get an AEG first, and it's a good idea and usually more fun. I'm going to say this now, if you think sniping is about shooting people all the time, then you have been misinformed, it's mostly about recon and relaying information to your commander or team. If you aren't willing to devote yourself to that mission then you shouldn't be a sniper.

.....Amen. Don't forget that some stock AEGs can have the same accuracy as a sniper too :p
Anyways, if you wanna be a sniper, this is what I recommend. For gear, get a ghillie suit, don't try making one. The best places to hide and conceal your shape are laying down behind the base of tree-trunks, rocks, stumps, and little knolls. Use a boonie hat if you don't have a ghillie, they will help shade the area around the scope and hide your head shape a little bit more. Also, if you're using facepaint, start with a layer of green all over your face. Then, cover the shiney spots with black (cheeckbones, nose, forhead, chin). Then, cover the darker areas with a lighter color, such as tan (under your nose, under your eyes, under lower lip, under chin). Want anymore info you can PM me, although I hear Ghost is extremely good with that.

I have to disagree about the ghille suit make your own.   This is because the ones you buy are completely covered in ghillie stuff you should leave your chest and the front of your legs clear so you can crawl easier.   If you make your own you can also customize the color.   I would recommend to start with a tan base because it blends in better with the ground and you can always use spray paint to make it more green.   And like every one else said get a AEG please!

The reason i said that was because it's a very hard thing to do for a begginner, and it can take up to 14 hours to make a good ghillie. I wouldn't want to waste my time with that, but on the other hand it is a good idea to have an open front. Also, I think tan is too light of a base, brown would be better.

I have a new suggestion.  Most people when they do sniping worry about the guns range and the side arm.  But i believe that if your getting into sniping so you can set up ambushes or thin out the enemy nubers for your side then you should look into Claymore's.  I've seen plenty of games were no one would notice a claymore and once it goes off every one not hit by it turns in that dirrection and that would be your opening to shoot a player in the back while no one is watch you.  Its a great tactic for a surprise attack.  But it dosen't work every time.

Unless you were willing to spend $160-220 on a claymore oyu aint gonna have much luck.  the only ones I have seen worth a damn are the CO2 powered, remote detonated mines.  The spring ones just dont have enough umpf.  Plus they are ussually made out of cheap plastic which really shows up out on the field.  Firestorm used to bring out a few and TRY to use them.  They were ussually seen around 15 feet away and an operator had to be right behind it to press the buttom that set it off.

As to the mines/claymores the new S-Thunder ones are supposed to work good and they are pretty cheep compared to some other brands.

It does take a while to make one and as for a tan base I meant a tan camo base.   on my brothers ghille I broke up the tan camo with green, back, and brown spray paint this over the all ready existing colors made it look really earthen like and it blends in great.

Welcome to the forums!

Just plain and simple, dont be a sniper. Its a lot different then playing video games or watching people on TV/the computer. It takes lots of money to upgrade a sniper to make it a deadly weapon. Plus, concealment is key in sniping.

Once you get into the game a little bit more, then concider sniping.

Late reply but, i am not a sniper but i am going to get one, ghillies that are to last take 100 hours. Im not talking ghillie kits i am talking from scratch. From videos i have seen people take 5to10 minutes to take one shot. Be very patient and expect very few kills
