M14 Upgrades
« on: August 31, 2010, 01:49:35 PM »
My brother just got a G&G M14 soc off ebay for $170 and he is interested in putting some upgrades in it.   The only problem with the gun is the hop bucking is crap and it double feeds like crazy I was planing on getting a mad bull bucking because they are designed to prevent double feeding.
Also he eventually wants to upgrade the gun to at least 400 FPS, possibly higher seeing as he is a DMR/sniper so I wanted to know what brand of motor I should get. Here is my complete list of upgrades: high torque motor, a m130 maybe an m140 spring, and then possibly later on a gear set.   This setup will be running off a 9.6 volt bat.   what do you guys think?

 I own a full sized G&G m14.

I had a M130 spring installed, and that spring destroyed the stock gears after like 3 shots. I then bought a set of infanant tork gears and a high tork motor, , wasnt really thinking when i did it, but the rof was terrible, so went back to the stock motor and got reasonable ROF, I do plan on putting in a high speed motor soon, I also run on a 9.6 volt  pack. i will point out that we had to cut several coils off the M130 spring to make the gun shoot 440 ish with a .2, so a m130 is probably just a bit to much spring, go a little smaller so you dont have to cut the spring.

I also use a systema bucking, a shredder nub and the stock hop unit, paired up with a real promy barrel and not the cheap madbull one.

This gun reaches and taps them pretty good and easily out ranges most of the guns i have went up against on the field.

I had a G&G Soc16. As soon as I got it I installed a KM-Head tightbore barrel, system bucking, SCS nub, systema magnum motor, and a guarder SP120 spring. Ran that thing on an 11.1v 25c 2300mah li-po battery for 6 months until I broke one of the stock gears...very impressive considering it was shooting 420 FPS with a .2g BB at 25 rounds per second...trigger response was epic too.

If your just looking to do a few basic upgrades, put in a systema bucking with an h-nub or concave nub, Guarder SP120 spring, and an ICS Turbo 3000 motor. I swapped one into the gun when I sold it and it shot around 18 rounds a second on a large 9.6v, trigger response wasn't as good as it was with the magnum though. But the ICS will be easier on the gearset. Shave the second tooth off the piston too.

There good, but only in KWA's...KWA chambers are smaller in size then most and the buckings are thinner as well, so putting it in a G&G chamber it would be a loose fit and cause air leaks and poor performance.

Go with a 6.03. They're cheaper, and 6.01s take a lot of maintenance. I've never had an issue with my madbull 6.03mm tbb. I'd spend the money on a barrel for now, and when you've got more money down the road upgrade the motor/gearbox.

Prometheus would be best...I would suggest saving up his money and investing in some real nice parts, the guns are killer when upgraded properly...a madbull 6.03 would be okay, avoid 6.01...a prometheus 6.03 would be best though.

I don't see what's wrong with 6.01 my bro has one in his scar and it is fine we clean the out barrels at least every other month and have never had a problem.

How often do you guys play? Cause once every 8 weeks playing every weekend is not nearly enough. Your accuracy will suffer, and there is the increased chance of a jam.

You're better of with a high quality 6.05 then with a madbull 6.01
