AAR OP EAGER JACKAL
by Deuce "Tan Warlord"
Picking up the Pieces
After Being told I was a Warlord and in charge tan. We marched out to Alpha Base and the anticipation for the OP to begin was building. We separated into to squads basically Wolfpack and 777 ST. Our plan was simple, each squad would go to a side of the field and go while maintaining comms. The OP started suddenly and my training kicked in and nobody left until the plan was complete. 777 ST went right towards Wolves Den at this point every one was keeping there spacing and formation. We heard fire coming from Wolfpack I called in and they said they had contact. Shortly there after we had contact we had split into two fire teams and the team one lead by Godfather was taking fire. Team two took cover and waited for a opportunity we were in wedge formation and moved up and quickly eliminated three Kijhadis. The Kijhadis then outnumbered quickly fell and card were recovered we were then at the GP tent. We formed a perimeter reloaded regrouped and pushed on. Moving ahead in a coloum formation we then spotted the mobile objective, the pilot dressed in orange. Thinking he was unarmed while covering we moved in to recover. The sound of a GBB pistol rang in the air and hit rags went on two of 777 ST heads. I moved cautiously around to the left not knowing the threat. Was it the pilot or a Kijhadi in the brush close by? I was within 20 ft and concealed myself. I then observed the pilot raise his pistol at another member, I raised my weapon in response called a Safety not wanting to to hurt someone. We then made a modified formation with two scouts 100 ft ahead and personnel on the right, left and on our six. We made it to Alpha and successfully completed that objective. We then took time to rehydrate and reload. Wolfpack came back to Alpha we regrouped and moved out. Cautiously and in formation we moved to an intersection of two roads. Contacts were sighted and I made the decision to hold tight since it appeared we had the upper hand in supplies and had completed the exfil of the pilot. This was the best decision based on these facts it made no sense to push on. A faction split off to complete more resource taking. We basically set up an ambush and eliminated any threat that came thru. Game over was called and it was time for lunch.
Attack & Defend
After an extended lunch break the objective was outlined Kimahl would start at Harris and Kijhahdi would start at Alpha and the objective was to take the GP tent and hold it for as long as possible. The other clan leader (DFM) expressed concern about Harris being closer to the objective. While being true there was a road directly from Alpha to the objective. We would have obstructions in our way in the form of a gully with a creek, brush and logs. We then formed up and went out to Harris. Game on was called and personnel went running down the trail with out a plan and everyone followed like sheep. My training once again told me this was a bad idea. You should always plan any evolution and the military never runs blindly into combat (MILSIM?). What I stated in the first paragraph rang true and they beat us to the punch and green now held the tent. Forming a battle plan under fire is not the best option. I crossed the gully up to a big downed tree where many tan were pinned. I had my SAW and started laying down cover fire with effect and looked like maybe order was going to come. Then a metallic grind coming from my gearbox told me that was over. I drew my side arm and carefully shot two combatants down before being hit. I was seeing a very different Green Team this round organized, fields of fire set and the tactical advantage of holding one spot. I decided to grab another weapon and returned to see to my horror disorganization, lone wolvery and fatigue on tan. Plans were made to go this way that way and around and out back all succumbed to failure. I was told by several people we made it up to the tent and got eliminated because there was nobody else to cover us. The only way to take a fixed position is in force and numbers. Green won and kudos to Green.
To sum it up we failed because there was no battle plan. People separated and did their own thing and communications failed. I was as much to blame as the next guy fatigue leads to this sort of behavior and only thru discipline can be overcome. One guy cannot eliminate a whole team in a fixed position!
Free-Flowing Hostility
I was the VIP and the target of the other team. I was told I had to stay between Wolves Den and Harris to keep the game from ranging out. This made perfect sense to me. I took a small three person body guard team and sent the rest out to seek the VIP. Our Designated Marksman was sent on his own to gather intel and watch movements and if the opportunity presented itself to take out the green VIP. After game on was called almost immediately green was in my line of sight. Knowing I had limited movement and only a three person team guarding me I felt like this was going to over quick. I moved to some cover and called to Carr who had Taz on his right to see if it was clear in his sector. It was and I immediately moved right and found concealment. I laid down and listened and didn't move at all. I heard the report of weapons at my 12 in the distance and TAZ, Car and Alexi did their jobs to the T and kept me safe with no breaks in their line. I laid so still and quiet they thought I had left. Game over was called and we met at FT Harris area. This is where the only problem occurred. The green VIP was not taken either but was moved to the LZ area where Tan would have never looked for him because it was behind FT Harris and to the right quite some distance away. The Mods probably did not catch this due to the fact it was their first event at Harris. Our DM ended coming the closest to him because of the route he took.
Great job to my body guards!! The rest I did not witness.
Sum Up
Great job to NEASE on this event. I couldn't imagine driving up here from Mass and putting on a event on a field you have never really seen. You guys pulled it off very well. I hope that you will continue to put on Ops here and assist us in advancing in airsoft. I had a great time! Though I wouldn't consider this a Milsim Op it was good objective based airsoft. Overall great job to tan. Green you did well especially in the Attack and Defend part. 777 ST great job the first scenario you guys rocked and kept it together. The second one not so much we still have work to do. This is only what I saw and some of it is my opinion so do not get EMO on me.
