you pretty much just make up one that you like. Some people do things that others name them for, or they just use a nickname from school.

Or it could be something that you think is based on your personality or something that you really like (although using the callsign "Airsoft" might be kinda lame...)

Like it's been said, some are earned and some come with the player to begin with.
 
Mine came to be for a couple of reasons:
-I am a fire fighter
-I have in the past built and deployed smoke bombs (Note: These are illegal in Maine, unless you are me)

I've used "Redrover" for a long time as a gamertag/etc. So...I just came up with mine. But it seems to fit.

i got my my name while i was part of a gaming clan.  I was the anti air soldier of the team.  I could take down any aircraft in the game online.
