WWII Load Out
« on: March 09, 2010, 10:05:41 PM »
I'm looking to make a WWII load out for D-Day this year.

What are some things different soldiers would carry? And for the sake of D-Day, what marines would carry.

I would prefer some cheap stuff (not in quality) but point me in the direction of gear, guns and other things.

I would like to base my load out around the Thompson Sub machine gun.

Thanks.

YES!!! If you need any information on Thompsons, let me know. Here's where you can get one for a good price:

If you're planning on using this at a big OP like D-Day, you're gonna need magazines...which can get expensive. If you can't get someone to sell you some used for a good price, I can probably lend you a couple.

I've been considering putting together a WW2 Marine load-out for quite a while. This site has been helpful:
http://www.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_clothing_combat_ww2_usmc.php

What I'm going to try to do is get a Mitchel/duck hunter/frog/whatever-its-called pattern jacket (Like this: http://www.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_clothing_combat_ww2_usmc_camo.php), some WW2-style sage green trousers, and a Mitchel pattern helmet cover just as a start. Then from there I'll try to pick up some authentic WW2 web gear (suspenders, belt, pouches. Pack can come later):

http://www.olive-drab.com/od_soldiers_gear_ww2webgear.php

I'm probably going to get this jacket, as a "first step":

After selling pics of Joker on his boat in his driveway on EbaY, the vehicle is fixed for now, so I will be out to play

I meant Army, I wrote marines by accident since for some reason I was thinking Iwo-Jima, my bad.

Thanks for the links Red, I knew that you'd reply  ;)

But, I looked at how far away D-Day is, and realized that there probably isn't time for me to aquire what is necessary. I still want to know though.

Do yo know what web gear there was for Thompsons?

There are magazine pouches, but they aren't cheap. There's really not a whole lot there could be besides that lol. Maybe you should get the Marine loadout anyway...TWINS??? Hahaha.

The problem with the 5-cell Thompson mag pouch is, its designed for the 20 round magazines, and almost all airsoft Thompson magazines are designed after the 30-round...so they won't fit right.

You are correct, the Riggers pouch will work. What I use to carry my high-caps is actually some type of surplus European (French or German) 4-cell sub-machine gun magazine pouch that I picked up at Army Barracks for all of $3. Its incredibly durable, holds the mags tightly (which makes quick reloads difficult, but not impossible), and didn't hurt my wallet. Unfortunately, I have no idea what its country of origin is (tag said French) and I haven't seen another one at Army Barracks...
