Quest for fire.
« on: February 09, 2010, 04:33:55 PM »
OK,  I had this messed up idea for a game. It is a winter only game, Possibly also a wet weather game.

Objectives:

Start and maintain your  bases fire.
Put out the fire at all other enemy bases

Sub objective:
Steal fire from a enemy base if yours goes out.

players will be devided into 2 or more teams and be assigned a base to operate out of.
Players will be allowed to start there fire at the begining of the game using any approved means, matches, lighter, paper, candle, sterno, etc. No lighter fluid, gasoline, or other form of propelled gas is allowed. to be used.
After the fire is lit,  Players may no longer use matches or lighters to relight there fire should it go out, or be put out.

If a teams fire is put out, The have 1 half hour to steal the fire from a enemy camp and rekindle there camps fire.
Fires can only be started and maintained at approved locations at each camp.

Your team is out if your fire stays out for more then 30 minutes.
You win if your team is the last to have a fire.

2 sticks smoldering is not considered a fire. Your camps fire must be of reasonable size and burning well.  ( ie reasonable amount of visable flame.)

Players will report via radio and tell on each other if they see the enemys fire is not buring suitably, or has been put out, causeing a Mod to go inspect the fire to determin if it is tecnicaly out or not.

Notes about putting out or stealing fire.

You can put out the enemys fire almost any way you choose, Water from your hydration pack, can of soda, Snow, You can even throw snowballs at it from a  distance if you just cant seem to fight your way into the enemy base.

Stealing fire can be a bit more tricky. The trick being, moving it back to your base.  More experienced players could simply make a fire bundle out of birch bark to carry a ember back to base and rekindle it back into a flame. less experienced players will find they need a metal container such as a  camping mess kit, a cut open soda can, a old small pot, or other fireproof container to transport the embers. Players might also attempt to simply carry a smoldering log and try to get back to base before it puts itself out. Special note  Here, Players are not allowed to run around the woods with a torch, or otherwise actively burning fire. Fire can only be transported in smoldering ember form.

Also note. If you manage to get into a base to steal its fire, You will of course want to put there fire out after you steal,, Or, you might want to wait til its confirmed that your bases fire is started again,, cause if you put out there fire, and do not make it back to your base with fire,, You will have no means to restart it.

If you can rekindle a fire that has been put out without using a outside fire or accelerant, that is also permitted. SO make sure when you put out a fire,, its out and cant be blown back to life.

This game will require a minimun of 2 adults on each team, and Only adult players will be permitted to steal fire.

So,, what ya thing of that? a defence game  based on staying warm, and freezing your opponents out of the bases
This game will require teamwork and  communication to win. and should have maybe a 2 or 3 hour time limit.

Hmmm.

I suppose that a little further of a twist could be added to this.

We could add a few players ( fire starters ) that must first be recovered for each team before the first fire is started. sorta a pilot down thing. After the fire is started the fire starter can be kidnapped by a enemy team and used to help maintain or rekindle the fire. Maybe make it so you have to get the fire starter into the  enemy base to steal the fire and bring it back.

this alteration would indead make it a quest for fire because if you dont find a fire starter, You get no fire. Allow say 1 hour to get a fire started in your  base or you freeze and loose.

Teams would only be allowed to posses 1 fire starter at a time, but will be allowed to try to depribe the enemy of their  fire starter by camping and otherwise defending them in the field.

Hahaha! Of course you would make a game centered around fire! Sounds good!

sounds like a good game for rain or snow.  for the teams will there be medics or is this a spawning in game only?  this is a really cool idear but if a lot of people play this game in the summer during rain won't some teams feel like they will win if the are holding the best base on the spartan field(Kyles Base)?  hey if you will allow it will you try this game out this month sometime?  IF so just email me a few days before the  game and i'll bring
the lighter fluid.  Another question will cp2 be part of the game?  is cp going to be off limits for fire removel?  well hope to see this game played.

well,, its just kinda a idea atm. I havent completly planned it out, but there is enough of a idea there to run it as a game.

I would not play this in the summer due to fire hazzard, so winter or perhaps a wet rainy muddy spring day. ( a rainy day would make this even more challenging.)

The fires would have to be outside  any exsiting structure.
I do not think i would allow a fire at the Cp for this. would be to easy to sneak over there and steal undefended fire.

Im thinking. com, alpha and Kyles, with maybe a extention out to bravo. I do not think a full field press for this game would be good, so keeping everyone on the lower half of the field for this would keep the game lively. I think using stove top and cp2 would be to far out of the circle of camps, but if there are enough players the game area can be expanded to stovetop and cp2.

I would change the standart rules for medics just a little and allow 1 per 5 men on a team with spawns at your home base

That is why this game was exppresly suggested for a winter, and possibly a wet weather game.
