Im not talking velcro'ing to gear, velcro on both ends of the strap so you wouldnt have to worry about it coming untied.

ya like smoke said the velcro would secure the band together around the arm not actually attached to the acu/bdu or tac vests/chest rigs themselves.

I think a dark color would work better then light bright colors.
When wearing a bright orange or neon green I am tempted to cover it to make me less visable to the enemy.

If we used a dark "maroon" red and a dark "seawater" blue it'd be better then bright neon colors. Yes, the bright colors would be easier to see to ID this person as a teammate, but it'd also make him a lot more visable to the enemy. I'd rather squint and look carefully to see his armband color then be seen a mile away by some blaze orange ribbon straped to me.

Armbands would be a good idea, I think. It would prevent mishaps like I had happen to me a couple of Sundays ago when I gave directions to an Op-For player who had circled around behind our team.

I think a simple bandana around the upper arm would do the trick. For instance, one team would use woodland camo bandanas, the opposing team would use desert camo. It would be fairly cheap and effective. As usual, just an idea.

the differently colored arm tape i believe worked rather well at d-day only thing i would have to say is maybe the tape should have been placed on both arms.

Yeah, and tape is cheaper! But the arm bands you don't have to continuously buy....

I Like the tape because I almost didn't safety kill a guy because I thought he was on our team, then I saw the yellow and I was like OHHH. (and then I got opened up on :()

Tape is not cheaper, I bought 5 yards of cloth for the 60 kill rags for D-Day for $10 and that would have made a lot of arm bands. Duck tape is not cheap when you look at that.

At D-Day, I felt the bright yellow armband had little effect on my camouflage, and most of my kills were under 50'. There were instances where I had to wait until the enemy was almost 30' away before I could discern their armbands, other times I did not take a shot because I could not see the armbands of the other team. As many of my Axis teammates said, the color of the Allies' dark blue armbands definitely gave them an advantage, and I'm not 100% sure it wasn't a coincidence.

i didn't see any problems.  i identified several friendlies (blue) form about 100 ft away.  a few, with the help of my scope, 150 ft- 200 ft away.  the blue was a little hard to pick out but i used the "if you don't see yellow don't shoot" rule.

The armbands were definitely NOT an advantage! I belive everyone on the Allies side could tell friend from foe from a good distance away. If you were having that much trouble telling your teamates from enemies than you should have also done what we did. "FLASH"!......."THUNDER"!
