Team Armbands
« on: May 26, 2009, 10:08:20 PM »
I know a number of airsoft establishment that use different colored armbands to distinguish between teams. I was wondering if this could ever if possibly be used at MSAF events.

I know i had trouble differentiating between teams when i went. anyone with our crossfire/SA squad during Helo-Down knows of the friendly fire massacre at the respawn haha.

well usually you just know, but there have been situations where I was afraid to fall back to a place because I didn't know for sure if they were going to fire at me or not! it's a good idea, but I doubt it would be possible.

We had a problem with this at Gothic Serpent. Someone was falling back, didnt say anything designating his team and everyone lit him up. Sometimes it would be good to have though

I think it should definitely be implemented at D-Day, if were looking at 100 people or so, and we dont know half of them, how are we going to remember who's on what team? Arm band's could be like Navy Blue, OD green, and Black or something like that. I think it would be a big help.

My two cents:
This is MIL-SIM. In war friendly fire happens. You don't know if that other group is friendly or not.

Apart from some differences in uniform colors, medic armbands, and large tanks/APCs, and some special "smoke color" grenades, rarely do the infantry themselves wear "ID markers."

ah but im most wars you have the US in a unified set of BDUs or what not, so your team would all have same uniforms.  Unfortunatly we do not have that out here do to cost of them and people having different tastes.  I think Armbands would be a great idea for EVERY WKs game, if could figure out a cheap way to do it.

it probably will be.  due to all the random and unaffiliated players we used these to help with the confusion.  we designated the teams red and blue last year.

I would say something other then red fish, cause it would confuse some player's as they would mix it up with a kill flag.

ya basically what i have seen is the colored arm bands replace different uniforms. and ya as Zdiesel said red armbands could be confused with kill rags at far difference but then again kill rags are alot larger and usually when getting hit you wave it around SO IT CAN BE SEEN haha. recommended colors would probably be blue, green (OD), Black, and if we don't mind bright colors yellow, bright blue, or bright green.

I'd stay away from green due to everyone wearing camo... but blue, yellow, black, white those may work.

If i could get some money from some people i could just go to wal-mart and buy a couple yards of differently colored fabric that i could cut into simple 4x10 strips that people could wrap around their arms.

The problem there is keeping them on... I have been thinking about doing something with velcro but havent quite finished my idea yet.

velcro would probably be the best option but if we need cheap the strips of cloth would work if you double knotted them around your arm.

A lot of player's dont have any velcro on their vest's or jacket though, I think a simple cloth band 3 inches wide and 18-24 inches long would be the best. Make it so it has to be tied in a specific area so when people are trying to ID people as team mate or enemy, they know where to look and its not hidden away like on their leg or something.
