Operation Fumble
« on: February 24, 2009, 02:54:18 PM »
Operation Fumble
Units:
U.S. Marine Force Alpha (33%)
USMC Military Aide (1)
Homeland Security (1)
Al Qaeda Forces (33%)
People’s Militia (33%)

Official Memo:
As you may be aware the President’s scheduled trip to Canada was cut short last week when Marine One and the two escorting units were attacked just after leaving Kennebunkport, ME. The units were diverted from PWM and rerouted to the States Capitol to link up with State Law Enforcement units. During the confusion the President and his USMC assigned Aide “a.k.a. Football Carrier” were separated and boarded two different helicopters. The helicopter with the Football Carrier and the President’s SATCOM unit (a.k.a. Football) never arrived in Augusta.
We have since received information that the item and carrier are still in the woods just outside of Augusta and the condition of both is unknown.  NSA has located the wreck of the HMX-1 “Nighthawk” and that is why you have been activated to this region. Further information from Homeland Security has shown that there is an al Qaeda faction in the area and a local militant group that are both looking for the Football. You have been deployed with an agent from Homeland Security who has been given the Codes for the SATCOM unit.  We need this unit retrieved and disarmed in the field immediately.  If the unit is captured it could massive devastation, if those same people get a hold of the codes it will be worse.

US Forces: Locate the SATCOM unit and bring disarm it using the codes provided to the Homeland Security unit.
USMC Aide: Protect the SATCOM unit until rescued by the US Forces. If captured/killed return as a US Force.
Terrorist Units: Capture the SATCOM unit and/or retrieve the codes from the US Forces.
Militia Units: Capture the SATCOM unit and/or retrieve the codes from the US Forces.

*There are additional rules on how to arm/disarm retrieve codes etc, but this is the basic concept.*
-All players have three respawns and are to follow MAG Bandage Rules for # of bandages/medics etc.
-All players may be verbally searched after being shot/before being healed by being next to them and announcing you are searching them, at this point they MUST give up the SATCOM and/or codes if they are in possession of them.
-To Arm/Disarm the unit you must have the codes and SATCOM unit in hand in your Respawn, complete a 200 count and then radio the codes over the FRS radio to confirm you have the codes and SATCOM unit in your possesion.
-If you are carrying the SATCOM Unit or Codes and have to respawn, you must drop those items where you were killed.
-If you have been killed/heading to respawn you may not relay information to anyone. You may head back to try and retrieve the item(s) you dropped but you may not tell anyone where the items are until they are back in your possesion.
-An item may be given to a team member only while you are both alive and not hit. While the Homeland Security Agent starts with the codes he may give them to a team member in this method if they wish. They must also give up the codes if searched.

On saturday these guidelines didn't appear to be followed. The militia had a ridiculous amount of members, including some that they BOUGHT without any announcement. Al Qaeda was highly outnumbered and nothing really went right. Maybe a simpler scenario would have been better to go with the Maine Airsoft field. No disrespect to Smoke, but it seems like the only scenarios that are played are yours. I think that if this were someone elses idea besides yours it would not have been played. I dont mean to complain, I'm just asking you to consider other scenarios as well as your own. I am grateful for the oppurtunitys that are available to me because of you, but perhaps writing scenarios is not your forte. For example, Micov has made a couple that sound really good. Just a thought, dont take it too seriously.

you know what i consider?  evrybody quit bitching and make a senario yourselves.  >:( if you want one played and have an idea make up guidelines, rules, and a backstory.

Smokes senarios get frequently played because of the in depth detail he puts into every one he makes.

I'm really tired of kids coming on here and saying "we should have a team on one end and another team over there and they kinda go in and do something and kill each other."  they dont get played because the senario isn't developed enough to be able to run smoothly without problems.

And even if you do have a good idea that does not nessisarily mean it will get played.  for instance several people really like my Project Pheonix senario http://spartanassault.com/HQ/index.php?topic=990.0 but has it been played yet?  No.  Do I care?  No.  I know down the line it will get played eventually and when it does i will be content.

So the final word, go with the flow or make your own.

Smoke is also the field owner, and sole administrator of the games. There are some fields that are very strict and have a very set rule system, and there, you're stuck to playing exactly how they say, or man, you're out. At MSAF if anything I've noticed that Smoke as a landowner is quiet transparent. He plays the game like a regular player (though he does have a commanding officer position that at times keeps him off the front lines) and is down to earth. You can walk right up to him and suggest something, or ask a question. Apart from the wavers that are really almost required in the modern age, Smoke has kept Maine Airsoft and MSAF pretty red tape free, and for that matter, managed to keep the field from costing crazy amounts of money like some field operations do. Truthfully, many land owners are in it for a profit. And by profit, I'm not saying a little extra cash, I'm saying $25 a game per person kind of profit. It's hard to turn down that kinda money, yet Smoke does it.

Meh. In other words. I think Smoke's a pretty "cool dude." Also I'm glad you like some of the scenario's I've posted. Apart from posting them I have made very little attempt to get any of them played. They need a lot of working and reworking before they can be used on the field.

For the record the players who were bought were Smoke, Fishman, and Savage. We did not take any real money.

One of the reasons the 3 of us traversed across teams was so the MA administrators could get a feel for how things work on the field in-game, as opposed to ''trial by error''.

I picked this scenario, and then informed Smoke that MA would run this on the field opening day - there were no other decent scenarios I could find, nor did anyone offer up any prior to the opening day. In Smoke's defense, if you came up with even one, I am sure we would all at least look at it. His scenarios like Fishman said are in-depth, detailed, and well written. I am unsure why you say the teams were way off balance? The numbers basically said 3 teams with 33% of the players, and then 2 one off players for US side. When we started the game, there was 25 players, so 23/3=7.67; each team had either 7 or 8 players. That seems to be about fair. Granted there were other players that came late, they had no choice but to jump in where needed. I am sorry you seem to have had an unpleasant time at the event, but we do our best with those who show up.

Brick, seriously WTF... I have picked one scenario this year! That was last weekend at MSAF. Other then that I don't choose scenarios, so its up to the players to pick what they want to play. You are just being a dick for the sake of being a dick. If you don't like how it's being played then choose not to play.
